Claris Teases

Claris recently sent an email linking to a message from the Claris CEO Ryan McCann.

Responding to pressure from the Claris developer community it now seems likely that Claris will add FileMaker features that allow editing of FileMaker scripts using AI tools.

Claris says AI has made writing software much easier, but building reliable business systems still requires deep understanding of workflows, data, security, deployment, and maintenance.

The statement argues that FileMaker developers are well positioned for this shift because their real value has always been solving business problems, not just writing code.

Claris plans to integrate FileMaker with AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex so developers can generate interfaces, scripts, and schema changes using AI while still relying on FileMaker’s existing security, database, and deployment capabilities.

The upcoming FileMaker 2026 will add infrastructure improvements and lay the groundwork for AI-assisted “agentic” development.
